Promobar

BIOGRAPHY!

Born and brought up in the historic city of York, from my early teens I always fancied being in a band, playing some good music, being part of something and having that shared camaraderie. Mum and dad bought me my first acoustic guitar from Micklegate, (which I still have) and I soon had two rough ideas for songs.

I was (and still am) fascinated by the Beatles and how they fundamentally changed themselves and everything else in such a short time. Later my interests widened out to encompass a wide range of classic artists, such as the Floyd, Sabbath, U2, Led Zep, War Of The Worlds, Hendrix, Madness, Maiden, to name but a few - in short, all sorts!

However, the band was not to be. For two reasons really - none of my mates were interested and I've always thought I probably wasn't good enough to be in one. The nearest I got was a bit of casual roadie help, with leading progressive band Mostly Autumn in their early years. Great times!

Around about this time I revisited my two song ideas and rewrote, then recorded them. I got on a bit of a roll and before long I'd written enough tracks for an album, which turned out to be Talk In Mind. It just sort of happened really, as a bit of fun to get some sounds down and this is what seems to happen now. Later on, I recorded the Room For Your Every Mood album and was lucky enough to have it mastered by an engineer that had previously worked with Blur.

In between I did a sound engineering course and I've also organised large public events, leading me to work with actor Ricky Tomlinson (Royle Family), renowned Yorkshire poet Ian McMillan (BBC The Verb) and also A-list film director Ken Loach (Kes, Cathy Come Home). I've also had the good fortune to have had private conversations with Denny Laine (The Moody Blues, Paul McCartney & Wings), Jimi Hendrix's bass player, Noel Redding (The Jimi Hendrix Experience) and also John Lennon's sister, Julia.

So this is how it's gone, I've always had ideas knocking about, but with family and work, it's finding the time, though the new album is out now!

I own an electric and one or two acoustics, which I can almost play. I also have a sitar which I can't.

Welcome to my imaginary band.
